Food: I am a vegetarian, so when I saw the menu, I was shock that there was no vegetarian main dishes. However the server said that the chef could do anything I wanted. He made this really nice Gnocchi dish with wild mushrooms in the centre topped with a nice mix green salad, while the gnocchi were circling it all. The dish was amazing!! I was filled. I think if were eating a 3 course meal, the chef would have purposefully made all the portion smaller so you could actually fit it in. My boyfriend had the halibut, and his comment was how amazing the fish was, probably one of the best fishes he has eaten in his whole life.

Ambiance & decor: the place is small so they were creative in making good use of the space. As you walk in through the front steps you will see the chef's place in the centre back, chairs and tables bordered the perimeter, while a nice red granite top table bordered the chef's cooking area had stools for additional guests. The trick to this restaurant is to have reservations.

Price: yea it was a bit pricey but worth every penny.

Dessert: I had the creme brulee which was super amazing, rich creamy Carmel milk flavour. It was light enough to enjoy and sweet enough to wake up your taste buds.

Great space (even though you smell a bit after), fantastic service, and amazing food. Cheese plate was delightful with all the little jams/sauces. Sablefish was divine! Wines are nice and paired with each dish. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality. Compare this place to one a larger restaurant - you won't have the sous chef making every component of your dish like its done at Petite. Personally, that's why I think its so amazing. You have a incredibly talented chef making everything compared to going to a larger restaurant where the line cook is making this and another guy is making that. I hope they reopen soon. My number one choice for a special occasion.

Always love it!

I am not sure why some of the reviews have said this place is "pretentious." I feel like most fine dining in Calgary is, but Petite is not one of them - this is a place where the chef actually cares about the food he is serving (I absolutely love the open kitchen plan) and it doesn't matter WHO it is served to, it is the very best every time I go and I am not a "somebody" in Calgary. It is an intimate small place where attention to detail is a priority. I hope the 17th location stands up... I must say, I am a little disappointed that it has relocated to 17th Ave... I am kind of tired of the false hype down there...
